Email Configuration

UKKA staff can have one of two emails: @renalregistry.nhs.uk or @renal.org (there is an outstanding ticket to get this updated to @ukkidney.org). These two emails are configured in very different ways.

The @renalregistry.nhs.uk was (it may have changed slightly with the O365) just an alias for a normal nbt.nhs.uk email. With the default sending email being @renalregistry.nhs.uk. new users who have this email generally seem to be set up correctly.

Users with an @renal.org email need to be set both by NBT and by adding an email forward for name@renal.org and now name@ukkidney.org. Users are typically setup with a @renalregistry.nhs.uk email (this is used for the incoming email forwarding to address) Their account is configured to send as @renal.org. The external redirect does not appear to be used when mail is sent internally to the @renal.org domain so to test the resiredt is working a different email server needs to be used.

The email forwards are configured at Domain name registration and web hosting services | 123 Reg (123-reg.co.uk) which manages the ukkidney.org domain and the @renal.org domain amongst others.
