2017-04-04 Progress Update - Midweek
While I can see you have renamed the VMs in the VMWare console, the associated VM files in the datastore have not been renamed. This is still the issue preventing Veeam from replicating.
Please see the attached link on how to rename the VM files.
We need this work carried out immediately if we have any chance of the migration occurring this weekend.
Currently, we have eight VMs currently replicating regularly.
• RR-Atlassian
• RR-MANAGEMENT
• RR-UKRR-WEB UKRR WEBSITE
• RR-NUTURE-WEB
• RR-INTL-RADAR-WEB
• RR-INTL-RADAR-DB
• RR-NURTURE
These VMs did not use the original naming convention containing ‘[‘ & ‘]’…
As we see it today, if the VM renaming is carried out today, I can verify replication tomorrow which, will put us in a much stronger position to carry out the migration this weekend. Otherwise, we run into significant constraints which may delay migration until May 5-7th.
We also need to see that list of VM priorities and Backout / Testing Plan / Success and Sign off plan in order to proceed.
Our Current Rough Plan is as follows:
1. Change VM Names and associated files (RENAL) - Today
2. Kick off replication jobs and verify working order (AIMES) - Wednesday and Thursday
3. Confirm with Renal status (AIMES) – Thursday
4. Notify relevant parties that migration is taking place (Renal) – Thursday
5. As soon as possible Friday, Shutdown Healthshare (RENAL) VMS and kick off backup (AIMES) (12 Hours) - Allow STFP to collect ingress files
6. Saturday Kick of Healthshare Restore (8 hours) – AIMES
7. Turn off external access to Old Internet facing stack (FW) - AIMES
8. Kick off Replication of Internet facing VMs and invoke fail over to new internet stack - AIMES
9. Saturday Turn off access to old N3 stack (FW) - AIMES
10. Validate recovery of Healthshare to new stack – AIMES / RENAL
11. Invoke failover of N3 VMS to ne N3 Stack - AIMES
12. Test and Validate VMS and connectivity from 6PM – 12PM Sunday - AIMES / RENAL
13. Saturday Change routes (Router) - AIMES
14. Sunday Sign off – AIMES / RENAL
